KOWLOON WALLED CITY REFLECTION
Although to the general eye it will be seen as a slum, i was astonished by the structure of the buildings, it almost feels like its made out of Lego toys stacking up on each other because the Kowloon Walled city was mainly built level by level individually by their residents so there were no proper planning for any aesthetics. But as time goes on, its unique structure has became a worldwide sensation and aesthetic.
What fascinates me is the residents of the Walled city is actually happy with their lives. The whole community of  50,000 residents worked together as a society inside the 6.4 acres thightly-packed highrises as if its like an almost self-sustaining community with facilities like education, dentist and butchers etc. Some of the residents even went against the government when the government decided to demolish the walled city. I have learned that not everyone needed lavish living spaces to be happy or satisfied. Having a good neighbourhood community working together to solve problems is something money cannot obtain.
When looking for more footage of the Kowloon Walled City on youtube, I was very interested in the lifestyle of the residents and the way they navigate daily inside the walled city. The videos bring a sense of strange nostalgia because when I was young i watched alot of hong kong movies with my parents. It reminds me the scenery and architecture of the 1980s Hong Kong
